*Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.*

*I caught myself apologizing this week.*

*Not out loud.*

*Just in my own head.*

*I was walking back from class, carrying too many books and an overpriced coffee, when I started thinking about everything I've done since the breakup. The dinners with friends I almost canceled. The mornings I chose to get out of bed anyway. The afternoons I spent laughing before remembering I wasn't supposed to be happy yet.*

*Somewhere along the way, I started believing I needed permission to have those moments.*

*Permission to laugh.*

*Permission to enjoy a quiet afternoon without feeling guilty.*

*Permission to make plans that didn't include the future I thought I was going to have.*

*I don't know who I was waiting to hear it from.*

*Maybe him.*

*Maybe myself.*

*Heartbreak has a strange way of convincing you that joy is something you have to earn. As if smiling too soon means the relationship didn't matter enough, or moving forward somehow erases the years that came before it. I don't think either of those things is true anymore.*

*Love and grief don't keep score.*

*One doesn't diminish the other.*

*The life we planned mattered.*

*The life I'm building now matters too.*

*I've spent months treating those ideas like they couldn't exist together. Every small step forward felt like I was leaving something behind, when maybe I was simply carrying it differently. Maybe healing isn't about setting your past down. Maybe it's about learning how to walk without letting it decide every direction you take.*

*That thought stayed with me all week.*

*I don't know what October will look like.*

*I still have difficult mornings. I still catch myself looking for someone who isn't walking beside me anymore. Some songs still ask more of my heart than I'm ready to give.*

*But those moments aren't every moment anymore.*

*I think that's worth noticing.*

*For the first time in a long time, the future doesn't feel empty.*

*It feels unwritten.*

*There's a difference.*

***You don't need permission to keep living. The people and chapters that shaped you can always remain part of your story without becoming the end of it.***

*Until next Tuesday.*
